Sergio Sotelo

Sergio supports the buildout of The Hokuten Group’s capital markets arm as an intern, working under Founder and Managing Director Dino Monteverde on lender and capital-source research, debt and equity market intelligence, underwriting support, and transaction organization across single-asset and portfolio hotel deals. He also supports comparable-sale research and broker opinion of value preparation.

Sergio’s connection to hospitality began early. His father built a career in hotel operations, and growing up between Puerto Rico, Mexico, Miami and the Dominican Republic gave him firsthand exposure to the industry across a range of markets well before he considered it a career path of his own. That foundation has shaped every step since: operations and accounting at Dorado Beach Resort & Club in Puerto Rico, revenue management across three hotel brands with Grupo Puntacana in the Dominican Republic, acquisitions and underwriting with Comunal Capital in Mexico City, and a valuation and capital markets internship with JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group in Miami.

He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, graduating in May 2027, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese in addition to English. Outside of work, Sergio can be found kitesurfing, traveling, or exploring the local food scene wherever he stands.
